Heather is a Christ follower, infertility and pregnancy loss survivor, with a heart for families facing challenges of infertility and loss. She is an emerging author and speaker by night, nurse practitioner by day. Her vision is to bring hope, and deepening faith for those who are coping with infertility and miscarriage. She lives in Comstock Park, MI with her husband, three children (all born with a little bit of science and a lot of Jesus), three cats and one dog. She loves a good sale, oversized pajama pants, coffee, and Michigan football. She spends most summers in Northern Michigan in the family RV.
I had been through a long season (10+ years) of infertility, multiple planned and unplanned pregnancies and losses. I had multiple points in my journey where I was ready to walk away from my faith due to compounding grief and death. It was when God met me through the study of women of the Bible who also struggled with infertility and loss that I believed with all my heart that God truly loved me in spite of all the heart ache I had been through. It was my heart that needed healing above all else. God in his goodness showed me he wanted the testimony of healing shared just as he did with the woman who touched his robe. In the presence of all the people, this woman told her story. Jesus calls her daughter says it was your faith that healed you and directed her to go in peace.
Friends, the Holy Spirit used this story, revealing my own is enfolded within it. I was that woman, struggling with endometriosis related infertility. Bleeding for years resulting in isolation, shame, a famine of family, faith, and love with no healing option provided by this world. So, I went to Him with enough faith that He had power to heal and He did. I went from identifying as shamed and bitter to being a daughter of an All Sovereign, All Knowing Lord. And yet, He would not allow me to go silent or be hidden about the work He did in my life. In the presence of the crowd around me- my friends, my family, those known to me and not yet known, He asked me to tell my story, trembling in fear, but speaking in truth that He healed me, He freed me, He transformed me.
Heather Lavigne preached out of Hebrews 4 reminding us the importance of God's rest, and how we find true satisfaction and restoration in the rest that God gives us at The Beloved Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan
